I bought a used 870 that I wanted to tacti-cool for 3-gun competition, so I thought I’d put together an epic article on tactical shotgun accessories in Canada. Some people appreciate the ease of use, pointability, extra shells, and looks that tactical accessories provide. Like always, prices and availability will change and I’m still adding parts on, so check with the retailers for final numbers.
Common shotgun stocks and features:
Pistol grip stocks replace your regular stock with one that has a pistol grip added. Many have a simple fixed rear stock while others have no rear stock at all.
Folding stocks fold the buttock to the side or overtop. Search for “side folder” or “top folder”.
Telescopic stocks or M4 stocks use an M4 style stock that collapses and adjusts for length of pull. Some use a standard M4 buffer tube while others use a proprietary sized tube.
Recoil reducing stocks lengthen the recoil pulse with collapsing sections or add deadblow weight to reduce recoil.
Some tactical forends have some rails included near the end for flashlights and the like.
Tri-rail forends have a lot of flexibility by offering 3 picatinny rails.
