The CCI Stinger is the high performance 22 round. Clocking in at 1640 FPS, this round does make sacrifices for speed. It uses a lower weight bullet (32 grain), as well as a slightly long case that doesn’t work in tight match 22LR chambers. But, you get the fastest 22LR and some pretty amazing accuracy in some rifles. If you have difficulty calculating distance and drop, the Stinger might help with a flatter trajectory compared to a standard velocity 40 grain loading. It also demolishes small game up close with its very fast 32 grain bullet.
CCI Stinger Accuracy
CCI Stinger punched an incredible .28″ group with the Savage Mk II. I wouldn’t expect it to do those groups on average, but it just goes to show that some rifles really love the slightly longer case of the Stinger. Stinger came in the most accurate of the high velocity rounds in our 2014 22LR shootout. We were unable to try it in the Volquartsen as it is expressly forbidden in the manual, likely due to a tighter match chamber.
