Cabela’s Covenant 4 Scope Review

The Cabela’s Covenant 4 (sometimes called a Covenant Tactical) is an inexpensive white labelled scope sold by Cabela’s. I have both a 4-16×44 FFP and a 4-16×44 SFP. I’ve also reviewed the Covenant 7 and Cabela’s Intensity LR scopes.

The second focal plane model is just a bit more compact in length.

Covenant 4 Scope Specifications

  • 4-16×44 or 6-24×60
  • 30mm tube
  • “Christmas tree reticle” with lots of holdovers in MOA.
  • FFP (First Focal Plane) or SFP (Second Focal Plane)
  • Side parallax adjustment
  • Target turrets for elevation and windage (ie: not capped, accessible at all times)
  • Mine had 73 MOA of elevation available

Is it any good?

For the price, it’s got some good features. If you just look at the scope without the price, no.

Covenant 4 Pros:

  • Price. It’s a cheap scope.
  • You get quite a bit of elevation range (75 MOA on mine)

Covenant 4 Cons:

  • Cabela’s only warrantees these scopes for 60 days.
  • The clicks are mushy as hell. On the FFP model I have, you can’t even feel them
  • Glass is not great. Don’t bother with the 6-24 model as it looks like shit at high magnification.
  • Durability: I wouldn’t trust the clicks to stay clicky for a long period of use
